Clubbing by MIKI x Moonbootica

The concept of Takeover! Clubbing had long been in on my mind. The idea was to fuse a night of concert music and clubbing into one, and the dance club Hotel Shanghai and the DJ duo Moonbootica were perfect partners for this. Moonbootica and the Takeover! Ensemble shook the Essen Philharmonie Hall to its very foundation with catchy beats and can’t-sit-still-in-my-chair tunes. In this project, I had felt at first that I’d been untrue to my original ideas of “handmade” music, as the beats and the songs were recorded electronically. But this is the nature of DJ music, and the guys of Moonbootica were copacetic with my ideas, so that was that. Problem solved! Up until this project I’d not yet had collaboration opportunities with electronic music, but given that the evening with Moonbootica was a roaring success and that our work together was extremely fruitful and satisfying, this will definitely not be the last Takeover! Clubbing event.
